Prompt Answer

Have you ever been camping?

Why yes I have been camping. It was a weeklong camping trip in the mountains.

This is a cherished memory, a vacation I needed, a the way I met an old friend.

She was a teenager like me, we are both in our late 20s now.

7 days of fun in the sun. Each day sprinkled with hikes from the cabin to the attractions of course.

She was my walking buddy, my laugh track, my dining partner. I felt at home with her.

We kept in touch until graduation. When she went off to college, I barely heard from her again.

Sometimes friends drift apart. Should I try to revive an expired friendship? Probably not. Will she hold a special place in my heart and mind forever? Most likely yes.

With the loss of some old connections, I have gained some very good new ones. While making friends as an adult is harder than it was when I was younger, it is just as rewarding.

Studies show that “Friendships protect us in part by changing the way we respond to stress.

This matters to me because I intend to lead a healthy, happy life. I intend to succeed personally and professionally, and I consider a social life to be part of that.

Many adults have given up on relationships. I have not. I believe that I am worthy of good people who give me the same love and respect that I give to them. And I believe that one of the best ways to find those people is outside.

Fingers crossed I can meet another kind soul on my next trip ⛺️ 🙂.

  1. I find the message in your closing super important! I agree that many of us have given up on relationships. We’re all constantly shifting into new energy & sometimes it places us in unfamiliar spaces when our relationships don’t necessarily shift along with us. The key is to remain open. Know that each person is an experience & they’re meant to come & go at some point.
